I think he'll stay for his family though. He met his wife there, didn't he? As for Stock, I think his secret is he really likes his new job, and that makes you want to listen to him. He's constantly smiling, and always thinking things through before saying anything. If you look at someone like Mellanby, he's just deadpanned and looks like he doesn't want to be there.

Absolutely. You gotta love PJ. I had the chance to work with him a little bit when he was in Boston, but never got a glimpse of this side of his personality. He always had an outstanding sense of humor, like most hockey players, but the level of insight, analysis and perception he's displaying as a commentator bode well for his future in the business. As for Koivu, we didn't need more proof that Montreal was one of the toughest towns to play in, never mind carrying the captaincy there. I would not begrudge him whatsoever if he were to opt out of that scene.

If I was Saku Koivu I would be drowning my "sorrows" on Rue Ste-Catherine Ouest. The girls definitely don't care if you speak French or not on that street.I don't know if anything could get to me if I had to live in that town with his bankroll.

I've met P.J. in Toronto & I WISH they would let his personality shine through on HNIC. I think he has a future in the business (I think I'd rather him calling games,so that his personality might be able to show more. (future Devil in place of Doc Emerick when he retires?? I WISH) I've said many times That when he retires, He should still do something, on tv or calling a game etc. & I'll just say.. ITS ABOUT DAMN TIME!!! When I first saw him on i almost fell off the chair!! I was happy to see him.ok (sorry so long on that) The Saku thing, being in NY I really have not heard much about it, but if management is treating him bad (is it because he didn't learn French? Why all of a sudden are they on his case about it now?) & maybe even the guys on the team as well. I've liked what I've seen of Stock so far. I think he has the ability to express himself without running his mouth so long he ends up in a corner like some announcers. And he does seem like he is glad to be doing what he's doing . There's a certain exalted contentment he exudes that says I've got a juicy tidbit for you and are you going to love it. I think he beats the hell out of some of the other bodies who have made their way through HNIC and comes off better than those stiff print reporters HNIC sometimes invites on.Yeah, Koivu will move. I wonder if he'll go play with his brother. Montreal can be hockey hell for some guys (so can Toronto for that matter but a different hell just the same).I think Saku deserves better after all those years and everything he's battled. He certainly didn't deserve to be shit on by the media in that town and if the club is doing it now it's time to walk away. I wouldnt mind if he went to Detroit as a loaner player at the deadline. Let him center Datsyuk and Hudler. That way you run Zett, Holmer and Filpulla. Not exactly what I had in mind for a trade deadline move, but manageable. Now to answer your question, I wouldnt want to play in Montreal. Seems like they are the New York of fans in Canada. One bad game and you are a failure, one good game and they love you again. Yes, he deserves a chance to go elsewhere and shine!

The press (specifically the french media) gives the man a hard time. He's given his all to the team and management either craps on him or doesn't defend him in the press, Jeez, Gainey defended Brisebois and Theodore against the fans and press but won't step up for the team captain? I wouldn't blame Koivu for wanting to leave if he had the chance.As for Stock, I enjoy listening to The Stock Exchange on the Team 990am when ever I can. It's good to know he had hockey analyst to fall back on seeing how his hockey career never took off.

I remember Rue Ste. Catherine Ouest........I like PJ. He wasn't much a player, was an alright fighter, but he is enthusiastic about his job. Makes him easy to listen to.

Having lived in Montreal, I can tell you that most Canadiens fans, French and English alike, love Koivu and appreciate him for his talent and what he has gone through. There are some fans who I have heard call him "Captain Cancer" when he isn't performing up to his usual standards but for the most part it is only the politicians and the ENGLISH media that pick on him. That's right, the ENGLISH media!The French media (generally) seem to have much more respect for their beloved captain.Nevertheless I would never want to play for Montreal and although the majority of the fans there love him, he has a lot of patience. Heck, even French players like Briere don't want to play for Montreal! And I don't blame them!

Bob- I have to say before I opened this question... to see the below information.. I was thinking about if i were Saku koivu... and to my surprise you asked that very question lol... my thoughts were If I were Saku Koivu...I would be dying to get out of Montreal... hahahaHe should be playing for a team that will treat him with respect.. he is a great hockey player and deserves more than what they give him!Part 2... I believe he does have a future in business with a little knowledge here and little kick in the ass there... he would for sure make a great business man!
