At around the end of November this year I was watching the GTL resources stock and it plummeted to around 2.5p (see link of the share price chart and select 3 month time period: http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=GTL.L&t=3m.) I use a fantasy stock trader tool and I purchased £3500 worth of the stock. I made a 'fantasy' profit of around £300k. I wanted to know why this share plummet occured as there is no news related to this and yahoo finance has not even logged the drop on the 52 week range of the GTL stock. Could someone help explain? Somthing this dramatic should have some news associated with it!? If its any help I use bullbearings.co.uk to fantasy trade stocks etc. Some info would be greatly appreciated as this isnt the first time Ive seen spikes like this in stocks. Thanks!

Hmmm, the only thing I can find is that GTL have a major investment in an Ethanol plant in Illinois that was scheduled to be up and running about now. Perhaps there was some kind of major scare about it that, but I don't know what that could have been - they say that everything's on track, and all the permits are correct (yes, I know they would say that anyway...)Here's hoping you figure it out, and can accurately predict where and when these spikes will occur. Retiring next year as a billionaire sounds good...Oh, and Blue Horseshoe loves Anacot Steel.
Hi, on 1st December this year, GTL implemented a 1:100 stock split, where, lets say, on the 30th Nov they were 2p a share, then on the 1st Dec they became 200p a share. Had you, for example, owned 175,000 shares on Nov 30th at 2p each, worth £3,500. On the 1st Dec you would have owned 1,750 shares at 200p each, worth £3,500. As a shareholder, it makes no monetary difference to you, except for the fact that, stock-splitting can generate more interest in a company from potential investers. When a split occurs, you need to make sure your historical information factors this in, because, as you have discovered, it can give a false impression.

why don't you call the company's investor relations office. They will answer all of your questions.
I would suggest it was a mistake in the data on that particular occasion, if you look at the 52 week low it has never been below 175p, if you go to 'digital look' and check the price and chart it has never been as low as 2.5p
