So my car has broken down for the third time in two years and unfortunately i cant fix it this time. My teeth from my defense broke and now its ganna cost me around 1400 to get it fix. I have 3 options and am open for suggestions. 1.pay to get it fix but then that means that i've already spend over 5000 in just fixing my car. 2. trade it in as is, but how much will a dealership penalize me for giving it in like that, but my back up plan for that was to also give 1000 down. Will that be a good ideal. 3. Wait for my friend to have time to help me fix he has the tools but it still ganna cost me around 900 for the parts.I have a 2003 ford mustang gt. its grey on grey.To do those that dont know. The defense from the back is a big round ball that spins your tires and in order spin them that ball has "teeth" and sorry for the confusion that a slang word

what the heck is a "defense" on a car and what teeth? As for fixing it or not, you need to figure in several things. What is the car worth? how much are the repairs, how many miles are on the car? If it is low miles and fairly new, yes, fix it. you could reasonably expect it to last for quite a while. If it is older, low value, no it's not worth fixing. If you have $1000.00 to put down and any kind of credit at all, you can get a nice new car, but will have monthly payments. I just bought two new 2007 Ford Focus's for my wife and daughter. The first one, the dealer had a $100.00 down special going on. The second one, I had to put $500.00 down. SHop around, some dealers like Kia (in my area) have a tow it in special that says they will give you a minimum of $1000.00 trade in on anything, running or not.Good luck
