I owned a 1999 Chevy Blazer S-10 for 6 years now and I'm 2nd owner with now 79,600 miles on it. It is an LT and has all the options except a sunroof. I still enjoy driving it and it has been the most reliable vehicle I am ever owned and It is paid for. I have only had 2-3 things go wrong with this truck. Replaced battery with new Diehard in it back in winter '03. The oil cooler lines leaked and had to be replaced at around 65,000 and the Water pump was just replaced at 79,200 miles. I have never had to replace brakes ( I will soon as I am at 5%) and I just put new tires on it summer of 2007. It still looks beautifully brand new.So, did I happen to just get an exceptional copy? Many people claim the S-10 Blazer as not a reliable vehicle. Should I expect for the reliablity to start to decline rapidly after 100,000 miles? I've been thinking of trading it in for a New Trailblazer, but I'm nervous from all the bad reviews.Knowledgeable and reasonable answers please.

all i have is my own experience. my grandfather bought a 1997 s-10, before it was 3 years old it burnt up 3 fuel pumps and the whole drivers side front suspension fell out of it. when it was five years old the other side fell out and since burnt two more fuel pumps (which are about 300 bux a pop). all my grandfather did was drive the dogs around and go to the grocery store in it. after he past away i inherited it, after just six months it blew another fuel pump, i got a little pissed and donated it to charity. but like all other cars there is a few bad apples in the bunch, either your lucky or not.
i have a 98 jimmy (same platform as the s10) with 115,000 miles on it. it's still going strong and is very reliable. i will be passing it to my son this year when he learns how to drive. i have not had any major repairs done to my truck and i'm the 2nd owner. i bought it with 70000 miles on it 4 years ago.

i have had several s 10s and blazers. i cant seem to leave them alone.i also am a very happy owner of a 2004 extreme blazer. as far as fuel pumps burning up. if you drive it constantly with very little fuel in it. it will overheat the pump and it will die. but as far as majour problems nope. however yours sounds like a really good ride. i would not trade it in if it was me. just my .02
