View Full Version : what was the best trade this season?who now got bigger championship chances/dallas,suns,lakers?
playa_boay23 07-20-2005, 05:32 PM i think shaq is the best trade, causea)marion aint on the team and they got more shots for other players and a good chemistry without his i need more.....stuff nowb)shaq is rebounding greatc)the suns aint soft anymored)they got a halfcourt option now, tooe)he is the best dunker in the leauge (if ya get the ball under basket, and nash can do that)f)they got defensive and offensive twin towers nowg)his presenceh)if he get doubelt the suns will make even more threes than last seasoni)if the fastbreak option doesnt work and the other team makes a fastbreak and shaq was on his half,he can defend it and there wont be easy easy pointsj)amare is unguardable nowk)shaq is funny(good team chemistry)and got EXPERIENCE like no otherand look at his stats in phoenix: he gets the most boards, about 11.hes making 13 points and will make about 17 at the end of season, and thats 15ppg by shooting 60fg so only quality shot.hes blocking well, and he makes the best screens in the leauge
NatTheAnswer 07-22-2005, 11:31 PM Well, based on Phoenix's record with Shaq right now, I wouldn't say that the Shaq trade was the best trade.I think that the Pau Gasol trade was the best trade. The Lakers virtually gave up nothing for an excellent player. They've been winning games with Gasol, and they don't even have Andrew Bynum back yet. They'll be an even better team when he's back in the lineup. Based on the Lakers current standings, and Gasol's productivity, IMO it was the best trade.
blooddamupiru 07-25-2005, 05:30 AM The best trade and the team with the best chance to win the Championship as a result is Gasol and the Lakers. Shaq is not a good fit for the Suns and the Heat got the better end of that trade.
Ttanner 07-27-2005, 11:29 AM they should not have got rid of marion, now with shaq he just slows the offense down when there streght is the break marion opened up the offense, people will say that is the best trade but the best trade was paul gasol to the laker lakers get another star so they dont have to git kobe to shoot every shot , plus a struggeling lamar odem wasnt helping lakers will win the chapionship
Da_webwalker 07-29-2005, 05:28 PM I would sat the Lakers and Celtics has really helped themselves this B ball season with their new additions..
sdlefer 07-31-2005, 11:27 PM well with jason kidd nowitzki will be able to become a monster and they have a chance to go to the finals.I like the shaq trade too but if jason kidd can play %100 well,I say that dallas can be the champ
MichaelR6929 08-03-2005, 05:26 AM Lakers
JEFFG 08-05-2005, 11:25 AM Lakers was the best trade no question!
Kosmical 08-07-2005, 05:23 PM You've just convinced me the suns has a bigger chance lol
patsmight 08-09-2005, 11:22 PM gasol definetly, the lakers are 13-2 with gasol (and without bynum, see when he gets back) lakers are now contenders instead of being in the middle lower part of the league, and they almost gave nothing in exchange for gasol
JeffF 08-12-2005, 05:21 AM I know according to analysts on Espn the laker trade was the best trade. It looks like that now. Gasol is a really good player and with bynum coming back the lakers look like a power house. I can see why popovich was so upset. However, people need to understand the facts that the asker put out there. Shaq is one of the 50 greatest player to play the game. He can change a dimension of a whole game with just his presence. When the suns play teams like the lakers, spurs, etc. in the playoffs, they wont be able run laps around teams like they used to in the past. Teams clamp down defensively, in the playoffs and force you to execute in the half court. Now they can do a high/low screen with shaq and amare, or they can feed amare in the post and when shaq man goes to help he rolls to the basket. OR they can have shaq set screens and force defensive switches that wouldnt work if you had marion. (with marion you play a small or power forward, so if he sets screens for amare the defense switches and they cant do anything. But now you need a viable big man on shaq and he sets a screen for diaw or bell....I cant see duncan keeping up with bell.
Chris5078 08-14-2005, 11:20 AM The two top trades would have to be Kyle Krover going to the Jazz and Pau Gasol going to the Lakers. Krover keep the Jazz another deadly outside shooting threat that automatically picks up their 3 point game alongside AK-47 and Williams. Memphis just might have given the West to the Lakers by trading Gasol to them. He just gives them one of the best line ups they've had since the Gary Payton, Karlone Malone era. I believe the worse trades were probably Shaq and Jason Kidd. I don't consider them to the worse trades cause it won't give them a shot to win the West, thats up in the air as of this moment unlike in the East (pretty much between the Magic, Pistons, and Celtics). The Suns, thinking short term, probably didn't get the best answer to Tim Duncan, as Shaq isn't that dominate of a player in the paint anymore. Plus, Shaq is going to retire in a few years, probably this season or next, Marion is a player that has about another 10+ seasons. If the Suns hadn't won the championship this year, why not just wait it out till they got a decent trade for Marion, not just loft him up for a has-been. I say Dallas got the second worse trade is because they practically gave up their entire future for Jason Kidd. Kidd is an exceptional point guard, but hes not in the East anymore. Theres no guarding Marbury or Andre Miller in the West, its all Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Tony Parker. Kidd's best match up is at best Steve Nash, but he doesn't need to worry about him. Paul, Williams, and Parker have blazing speed and have always been a really big problem for Kidd to stay in front of them. This will eventually hurt the Mavs because once Kidd retires, the same scenario for the Suns, Devin Harris will be an up and coming point guard with all of the attributes to guard the 3 mentioned PGs. Those depth in Diop, whose always been a hard matchup for Duncan and Harris, while not the best passer, has a better shot and quickness to keep pace with Parker. Dallas also got stripped of their picks, if I had to say anything, Rod Thorn probably got the most out of his aging superstar than anyone else did in this busy trade season. So all in all, the Lakers and Jazz got younger, adding depth to their future franchises, the Suns and Mavs went short term and will probably get burnt for it. I say the Lakers got the best trade, but the team not in the championship picture, the New Jersey Nets, might have just got away with the sleeper trade of the season.
chief8 08-16-2005, 05:19 PM Gasol to the Lakers was the best trade.Shaq to Suns? Miami gets the better end of the deal. Shaq can't help the Suns.Go Lakers!!!
