When the Stock Market is on the upswing, it's at the end of the Nightly News but when it's in trouble, it captures the headlines and the hyperbole is mind boggling?

They like to report trouble more than good stuff.

Several factors are involved: 1) How large is the upswing/downturn? A huge upswing will rate coverage as well. 2)Is it a general movement, or is there a specific reason for it? When the market story is tied to another story, it will generally get larger play on the news. 3) The news DOES tend to play off bad news more as it is prone to generate better ratings. This is not new. Radio, TV, Newspapers, etc. are in business to make money and bad news is more noteworthy than the average persons average day. Noteworthy translates to interesting and therefore a reason to watch or listen.....which means RATINGS.

It's usually, bad news in the beginning and good news at the end. If you finish watching their program feeling elated, you'll come back and watch it again.

It's all about the money, and these trade companies, especially pharmaceuticals, are dictating the media and advertising.

This is simple. Look at the numbers. The stock market tends to make a slow, gradual rise. It also tends to drop at a much faster rate. This is because the market generally heads up (otherwise, most companies would go under). However, when some bad news takes place, people panic and sell. There is some group psychology involved. The DJIA was around 12,200 in Dec. 2006. It reached 14,000+ in October, about 10 months later. It was back down to 12,200 by mid-January, three months later. If the market went up 300 points a day, every day, for a week, I guarantee you would hear about it at the start of the news.

Because the volatile market we are experiencing is being used by the liberal media to further their agenda that all things Republican and/or conservative are ruining our country. Never mind that lack of integrity and ethics are destroying our democracy. That doesn't fit with the agenda, so it doesn't matter to them what they say or how they say it.
