Why are so many books now a days ruined with stupid endings? Where are the editors? Or are the publishers too focused on making a buck to really care about quality? What do you normally read for enjoyment?

Without knowing what good books you consider ruined by stupid endings, I can't really discuss this.I agree that the wrong ending can ruin a book, but it's relatively rare for me to read something and think the ending blows. Maybe you're just not as selective as you might be choosing what to read?

Peasant,Have you every noticed when a book is made into a movie that nine times out of ten the ending is changed? When I first read Jaws, I thought it was fantastic all the way through until it got to the end. What? You've gotta be kidding me! That was my attitude at the end. However, the ending in the movie was much more exciting.I think the authors simply don't know what to do at the end at times. It's the same way with your horror movies. They kill whatever it is that's been plaguing the entire town and then all of a sudden 'bam' they ruin it by doing something stupid in order to set up a sequel. Anyway, that's my take on it. I like to read horror for my own personal enjoyment.Good question by the way.

I hate it when a book is really good, and then it is completely spoilt by the ending.

I hate when they build up a story and at the end they just leave it hanging until a sequel. i.e Blue Bloods. I wasted through 100 pages of non-sense and just when it starts to get good. it ends and now I have to go get the next book just to see what happens. That pisses me off. I mean it was literally 100 and something pages of mindles drivel b4 the story picked up. :(
