A few days ago, some "Billybob" named Stackoladan asked the rather rude question; "Muslims how do you know Muhammad is not a false prophet". Being Jewish, and a biblical brother of the Muslims, I took particular offense to the assumptions he made in his comments. He proceeded to claim that because Muhammad had not performed any miracles (a ridiculous assumption made by an ignorant bigot) and Jesus (a well known Jew) performed many miracles, that he was the true prophet and Muhammad was false.I pointed out to him that he might want to spend five minutes learning about Islam, before he making a total *ss of himself. Well, as you can imagine, he didn't take my comment well, and we've traded several emails in which he continues to defend and exult in his ignorance. So I ask you, the Community, Do you think that Christians who denigrate the religious beliefs of others, are truly Christians?

I think there's a difference between denegrating someone's beliefs and disagreeing with them. Thinking someone is wrong isn't bigotry. Being mean about it probably is.

Of course not. If they were real Christians they'd just kill the infidels like the bible says to.

You took offense to that question??? I've seen MUCH much worse comments insulting other religions than that!

I don't know any Christians, so I can't say. If you mean church folks, then no.I know a lot of them, and the answer is no.

What he did was wrong, and he probably is ignorant of the Muslim faith. But does that make him not a Christian? No. Christians aren't theological storehouses nor historians. We just follow Jesus the best we can.I think perhaps this person was a bit immature in their faith.

I can't see into his heart of course... but his approach isn't likely to draw any Muslims to consider Jesus and His claims.

They may be. But only very immature Christians. We all have to offer people the grace to start somewhere. I'm sorry he did that. As a Christian I have a great deal of respect for Muslims.

Paul taught that Christians are to judge those within their churches, but leave the judgment of non-Christians to God. Christians follow the teachings of Paul, so if they are judging non-Christians, they are not following Christianity.

I am a Christian and by no means would I ever argue somone's religion. Now I don't mind telling you about mine religion and why I have my beliefs and I also don't mind the latter. Some people (alot) are just insensitive and ignorant when it comes to religion. It's such a touchy subject.

As far as I know about Christianity, vanity is a sin, and touting that you're religion is better than others and that all other belief systems are false is a sin in itself. So my answer is that the Christians who bash other religions are Christians, they're just ignorant ones who give the rest of the Christian population a terrible rep (seriously, watch the movie "Jesus Camp.") But honestly, the Bible contradicts itself constantly (I mean, the thing's been translated how many times now? Tons of things are lost in translations, that's just common knowledge) so there's no real "right or wrong" way to perceive certain Christians who push their beliefs on others and declare other beliefs as "wrong." Really, the guy is just a douche; don't waste your breath on him. I'm not religious myself, so it'd probably be more interesting to get the views on this from people who are Christians themselves.

wut are these people talking aboutin the Bible it REPEATEDLY states to LOVE one another and NOT to force people into christianityit states that God takes no pleasure in a person forced into christianity i mean cmoni dont know if wut he is doing is wring because its one thing to attack another religion and another thing to speak badly about itbut so wut??gossip is one of the 7 deadly sinsif i were this man i would shut my trap unless God somehow told me to put down muhammud (<-sp?)which i highly doubtbut in a way this man is gossiping and attacking (not loving) and trying to put down another religionwhich goes against the Bible

I think pointing out the errors of another religion is fair game. I think you cross the line when you become personally insulting to another, or attack them. By the way, the Muslims are not your Biblical brother, Islam didn't come into existence until 100's of years after the Scriptures were written. You are probably referring to this passage:Gen 16:11 And the Angel of Jehovah said to her, Behold! You are with child and shall bear a son; and you shall call his name Ishmael, because Jehovah has listened to your affliction. Gen 16:12 And he shall be a wild a** of a man, his hand against all, and the hand of everyone against him; and he shall live before all his brothers. This is speaking of a particular people group, the Arabs, or the descendants of Ishmael. Not all Arab's are Muslim.I found nothing offensive in his questions concerning Muhammad. Perhaps if you would point out the documented miracles he performed or the prophecies he spoke which came to pass, your argument may have more merit.

Well I don't think that question was offensive at all, maybe he really wants information about why they believe he is a prophet etc. Christians who ask these questions just don't understand how people can believe these other religions. I do the same thing, I think the Muslim Religion makes no sense just as I do Scientology- its my right to have that opinion. We Christians just want to help other people to become Christian cause we strongly believe its the ticket to eternal life and its what God wants us to do, teach as many others about Jesus . Thats all it is, you are thinking about it too much! Relax! Okay!!

Yes, they're Christians by the fact that they accept Jesus Christ as their savior. However, being Christian doesn't mean you're a good person or always do the right thing.I'm sure he meant offense by what he said, however, it's not wrong to question beliefs. It can be viewed as rude though. Maybe this person should ask himself if Jesus is a false prophet. In short, yes, Christians who denigrate other are beliefs *are* Christians, but they are not "good" Christians and they certainly are rude.

I'm a Christian, and I can tell you all Christians don't think that way. I think they may be Christians, but I think they are Christians who are doing IT wrong. The Christian faith distinctly says we are suppose to share our beliefs to those who haven't heard it, and if they choose not to accept it, we are suppose to love them anyway and tolerate the differences. We're not suppose to brow beat others with our beliefs and "force" them to convert because that kinda defeats the purpose of Free Will. All the worlds religions have a basis in truth, and they all stem from the same roots. We have more similarities than most people know. And I plan on learning more about all those similarities. Last year, my new year's resolution was to read the entire Bible, cover to cover. I did. This year, I'm reading the Torah. Next year I plan on reading the Koran. It's not going to change my faith, but I'm sure it's going to expand it.

God tell us not to have any other god before him.God tells us to go into all the world teaching and preachinghis word.God tells us if a person doesn't want to here his word, to leave them alone and find someone that will listen to his word.God tells us not to argue with anyone over or about his word. The young man was wrong to argue with you or make any remarks about your religion. Yes, he is a Christian but an unformed Christian that has not yet matured.I apologize for him. He did not act in a godly manner.I do believe that our God who created the universe, the world and everything in it is the only true God. I live by faith.I would not argue about my God with anyone. My God does not need anyone to defend him.At the day of judgment, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is the Son of God.

A bit like asking if Politicians that denigrate other Political beliefs are really Politicians? But I do concede that Christians in their zeal to spread the teachings of Christ, do on occasion violate them.Of course ignoring one's stated beliefs isn't exactly limited to Christians. And I think I'd rather have a verbal free for all than the stifling ultra polite tedium the PC crowd would foist on us.Good question though.

Religion is a hot topic eh?Its like they say, religion and politics is an argument that no one will ever win. It isn’t fair that the people who are ignorant and rude seem to spread the most word, giving everyone else a bad image. I know a lot of people who hear the word Christian and run away screaming, thinking they will be judged and nagged for having different beliefs.I would call him a Christian, because that’s where his beliefs are even if I feel he has strongly misinterpreted the way he should show his view on the subject.Hopefully you two decide to agree to disagree! It’s about the only ending a topic like this will get. Good luck!
