i spent a year based in Nigeria in my merchant navy days and unfortunately they would sell their own mothers and their children...they will do anything to escape poverty in their own country and in their naivety some will hope that they are helping their children as well as themselves ...i saw this in lots of countries...Roumania, Russia and china..being the biggies...but what can i say ..when yr there it breaks yr heart...but i always had too come home...it put my life into perspective put it that way....

Of course, the children are innocent victims. But isn't it our pathetic immigration controls that encourages these criminals to traffic them into Britain in the first place. We are importing Victorian values into this country. I am heartily sick of this Government importing problems into this country.

Its not just from Africa this week the police in Slough broke a major child trafficking ring and those children were from Romania. Some of the children were sold to those in charge some were taken and their parents have no idea where they are. What makes me most angry is the parents and relatives world wide who for the only reason of wanting some money sell their children into slavery. I really can't put into words what I feel. But all legal systems seem the same they will get a smack on the hand and told how bad they are and the children are passed from pillar to post in care wondering what on earth they did wrong.I don't know how we can help but just report anything suspicious that you see.

In historical records from across the world of great famines there are numerous accounts of parents selling children in exchange for food or even parents eating their own children. Family ties fall apart under extreme conditions.Under the surface this country hasn't changed that much since Dickens wrote about the child pickpocket gangs and criminals of Victorian London.There are some charities that do front-line work in the UK on this, but they are small and underfunded and the issue large. But they deserve support.

Some Eastern European girls (mid to late teens) are also trafficked.In Thailand many girls are kidnapped or sold by parents and relatives and end as either domestic servants or more often as sex slaves and usually range from around 10 y.o. and upwards and from Cambodia, Thailand, Burma, China and Vietnam. Many girls who start off as working in Thai brothels are put on a travelling circuit where they start in Bangkok and made to work their way down Western peninsular Thailand, into Western peninsular Malaysia, into Singapore then back up the east coast of Malaysia and Thailand and back to Bangkok. The whole trip taking 18-20 months and never being kept in an individual brothel for more than a week.In the Philippines girls are also kidnapped or sold by relatives and again they could be as young as 5 y.o. for oral sex and 8 upwards for vaginal sex.In Indonesia the girls are nearly always Indonesian and they are either kidnapped or sold by relatives. These people have no regard for human life, yet they're given the right to come and live amongst civilised people.
