Where is the recession? We need the recession to get Hillary elected. What can Hillary say to make us believe her that a recession is here and doom and gloom is coming and she's the only one that can save us?Im worried, I hope bad times do happen cause people vote with their wallet.

I'm not sure that the stock market is what will actually hurt Hillary's chances at presidency. There are many other things that she needs to worry about!

A one day change in the stock market doesn't undo the price of oil, the poor educational system, the growing federal deficit and trade deficit, and the poor state of the nation's infrastructure.

Will the gain hurt Hillary? Let us all hope so.

A recession when an economy shrinks (i.e has negative growth) for two successive quarters, not when the Dow Jones Industrial Average swings 600 points in one day. As far as I can tell at the moment, the US is still enjoying positive growth.I would also caution against using the Dow Jones as a tracking method of the US stock market, and suggest you look at the S&P 500 Index instead.

Of course it will hurt her. She jumps on anything negative, then blames Bush, then tells us she can save us. LOL. A lot of liberals believe her. LOL

The only thing yesterday's rally pointed out is that although the Dow falls occasionally, investing is long term and that over time, the value always rises.I honestly don't see the potential for a crash. that doesn't mean that some companies aren't in trouble. The ones that are however are usually because of the way they're managed. It's funny because yesterday morning at work I heard someone ranting about the doom and that it would be safer to stuff money in piggy banks. I personally like this person but the comment just demonstrated his ignorance.

the stock market had one good day. we are either in a recession or one is on the way. unemployment has hit 5%, major companies are laying off employess left and right, the fedshad to have an emergecy meeting to drop prime three quartersof a point, the larges rate cut in years. we have a mortgaguemeltdown, credit card crisis is on the way and one house somewhere in america is forclosed about every hour and 38 minutes, does thatsound good to you? the stock markethaving one good day does not change the fundamentalsof the american economy. three wall street firms have saidwe are in a recessiion or will be in one, real estate will notturn around until at least 2009. bernake firstsaid we arenot in a recession etc.. but look at the actions he took.the one day stock market gain will not hurt hillary.

One day's results of the stock market doesn't mean much - some stocks just got cheap and smart investors picked them up.The economy needs some serious attention and Senator Clinton has plans to handle it, the situation will take time to correct due to the mess that the Bush administration has put the country in.Many voters have confidence that Hillary is the best candidate to tackle this issue.

Is it not good that the US economy is improving? Stop thinking like a small kid. If we're gonna vote hilary just because of the possible recession, than grow up man. There are a lot more things to worry about other than the possible oncoming recession, such as the Iraq war etc. If she is meant to win the election, then she will win it anyways.

When quarterly earnings reports come out and people realize "Hey the inflated dollar has raised my costs!!!!!" then I would like to see the market on that day.

We are in a recession. And, Hillary does not need to say anything for people to know that.If you're looking at the stock market, then I'm assuming you're looking elsewhere as well, for info on our economy.

You obviously aren't a very experienced investor if you judge the future of the economy by what the market does in a single day. Yesterday's bounce was most likely due to short covering. I'd explain that to you, but you probably wouldn't understand what I'm saying.
