for say a weekend would be in order,if you decide on purchasing any type of firearm,Covering all angles of gun ownership ie:Maintenance and safety ,firing range, storage at home etc ,maybe there is a Gun scheme in place allready,im not sure im uk we can have a 3inch sized penknife blade(Max* any longer than that you are arrested and charged with carrying a Offensive Weapon, tazer ~illegal ,stun gun ~illegal ,pepper spray ~illegal ,body armour jacket you need a police warrant card or army equivalent to purchase from millitary +police surplus stock retail stores.even 6-7 breeds of dog are illegal to own japanese tosa ,american pitbull terrier are two i know ofyet our armed police shoot to kill on hearsay and what looks suspicious ie:man with a table leg in carrier bag when told STOP ARMED POLICE he turned and raised his arm to try and say its a table leg and was shot in the head died instantly on the spot,it was some idiot with a grudge or for fun called the police and said this chapWAS armed with a sawn off shot gun in a plastic carrier bag and was going to kill a enemy or rival and would kill any police who got in his way! Complete Bull but by the time this come to light its too late.

Not sure what the question is exactly, if you asking if it should be mandated that you attend a firearm safety course to purchase a firearm. Nope, I've been around guns all my life and I'm not attending a course from someone else to teach me how to use a gun. The bill of rights grants me the right to bare arms and I DO. Thats just another step in taking firearms out of the hands of the public. When a public can't defend itself from the government, thats called a dictatorship.

The bill of Rights tells me that i can carry a firearm. Not only is it for personal protection but the Bill of Rights says that private citizens have the right to defend themselves against a corrupted government. So no i dont think that we should have a mandated weapons class that would just be another excuse for our government to try and regulate gun ownership. If you dont know how to clean your gun or use it then thats your own fault.
