If the world doesnt destroy itself in the following years....I hope to take a trip to Japan in 2009 during the summer. Im not sure how long I will stay, I want to stay for the whole summer but I dont know what its like there and Im not sure if thats the best thing to do. I want to stay in the areas around Shibuya, Ginza, Harajuku, Akihabara, and Shinjuku. I dont want to stay in a deserted area or a crowded area. I want experience Japanese style lining, but I dont want to live in one of those house things. So can someone help me with these questions:1. What area should I stay in?2. How long should I stay?3. Where should I stay (type of place)? (depending on #2)

1. Unless you're from New York or London, anywhere in Tokyo is going to be crowded for you. The areas you mentioned sound fine. For places, just outside of the Yamanote Line, try Nakano, Shimokitazawa, Naka Meguro, Jiyugaoka, or Medaimae. 2. Stay as long as you can or as long as you think you can go without getting homesick.3. Your conditions make this one a tall order. I'll assume by "house things" you mean guesthouses and/or homestays. A homestay is a good way to experience Japanese style living but if you don't want that, the only other thing I can think of is trying out a Zen Temple. They allow people to stay but I don't know for how long.

You can only stay 90 days on a tourist visa...And the areas you mentioned are packed with people. Any-where you go in Tokyo will be crowded. Hope you have at least $10,000+, cause that's what it will cost to spend the whole summer there.
