View Full Version : How significant is the Rupert Murdoch purchase of the Wall Street Journal? Da_Paulie_Lama 05-17-2005, 08:57 PM How much will this impact trading on the Dow Jones and does anyone expect a business that is associted with Murdoch to take a considerable jump in the near future? melzmar 05-30-2005, 10:45 AM Not at all. The WSJ is boring and only pricks read it. MrBlue 06-12-2005, 12:33 AM In the short-term, the price will not exceed the price of the offer. Once the deal goes through, it will no longer trade with that symbol! There's no point holding the position anymore. Let it go. The deal is done. Move on to the next one. BradH 06-24-2005, 02:21 PM I think that the reason that this has been so public is because the WSJ is such a prestigious name in finance. Dow Jones has been around for a very long time and that is why the Bancroft family wanted to make sure the company was placed in good hands. I think that News Corp (Murdoch) will do a great job growing the paper because news and media is his thing. nuts4tv 07-07-2005, 04:09 AM Murdoch's name is synonymous with power and success. The WSJ was in trouble, and Murdoch had taken many a failing enterprise and turned them around. I'm sure we be seeing a 'new and improved WSJ' in the near future. He can make things happen, many might lose their jobs while he is re-structuring. But, for those that stay and grow the WSJ, the payoff will be large. |
