My mechanic said the engine is totally shot and would cost over $2500 to replace. The Blue Book value for is listed at about $1100 - less than 1/2 of what it would cost to fix. I'm planning on getting a new car, so the question is how do I get the most value for the Saturn - trade in a car that will barely start and clack-clack-clacks, sell it for scrap to a local recycling plant, donate it to one of those charity organizations, or some other option? How can I get the most value for my car?

if you are in a big popu. area sell it as a whole or for parts, those plastic body parts are worth some money or call seveal salvage yards and see who will give you the most, ther aint no way your going to get 1100 if your lucky 500-750

Donate this to a charity. You can deduct the fair market value, regardless of repairs it may need. You will like having that deduction next April. Also, a charity can then benefit by selling it for the cash or fixing it up. I just know that this year, I had wished I would have donated my Suburban and received a $3000 donation credit for it, rather than the $1000 cash I got for it.
